| AMIGOS FROM OAXACA January 29, 2013 La Casa de Los Tesoros had the pleasure of providing guide service to a group of U. S. citizens now living in Oaxaca, and headed by Teri Gunderson. Jessie led the group on a boat tour of Lake Catemaco, breakfasting at Nanciyaga; followed by another boat tour of the Laguna de Sontecomapan and tributaries; with lunch at the restaurant El Yuca at La Barra de Sontecomapan. The group stayed at Hotel La Finca while in Catemaco. Though their visit was brief, we enjoyed very much meeting them and we hope that they return one day. |

| ECO-TOUR April 21 - 26, 2013 La Casa de Los Tesoros had the privilege of assisting DEMATAC in a six day guided eco-tour of Los Tuxtlas for a fantastic group of 30 junior high students and teachers from the “Colegio Suizo de Mexico” (http://www.csm.edu.mx/) in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. We met Sunday in San Andres Tuxtla, hiked to Ruiz Cortines where we camped and climbed the San Martin Tuxtla Volcano Monday. Tuesday we hiked from Ruis Cortines to Sontecomapan, where we traveled by motor launch to La Barra de Sontecomapan on the Gulf of Mexico, and set up camp. Wednesday we visited the Cueva del Pirata Lorencillo (Cave of the Pirate Lorencillo) en Punta Roca Partida by motor launch. The students spent the rest of the day with school projects. Thursday’s winds prevented us from snorkeling the reefs off Arrecife as planned; so the day was spent swimming and snorkeling in three different rivers entering the Laguna de Sontecomapan. Friday the group bused to Catemaco for breakfast at La Casa de Los Tesoros and a walk about town; then on to visit the Santa Clara Tobacco Factory in San Andres Tuxtla to learn how cigars are rolled. After lunch at Winni’s Los Almendros in San Andres, the group departed for their return to Cuernavaca. For us it was a memorable experience, with a really great group of students and teachers. We wish them all the very best and hope to see them again in Catemaco. Many Thanks and Good Luck Colegio Suizo de México! |
